Tristan Anderson, 38, an American citizen, was critically injured on Friday by Israeli troops during protests against Israel's Wall in the West Bank village of Ni’lin. He was hit in his forehead by a new type of high velocity, extended range teargas projectile, and has been transferred to Tel Hashomer hospital, near Tel Aviv. Tristan is unconscious, anesthetized and artificially respirated, has sustained life-threatening injuries to his brain (as well as to his right eye), and is expected to undergo several operations in the coming days, in addition to the one he underwent today. What exactly are we meant to feel, say or do in response to this? Thank God we're not in Israel-Palestine? Feel self-righteous? Confuse the Israeli state and Israelis, Zionists and Jews even more? Expect anyone to pay attention to our feeling that this is unacceptable? Somehow try to get a message of support to David, Tristan and the International Solidarity Movement? What exactly is all this devestating information about the situation in Israel-Palestine meant to inspire us to do, other than feel helpless and distraught?

Tell us how you personally feel Beccy. I feel that it is outrageous that this government is using this type of tear gas that can kill people. I feel very sad about this man who had his frontal brain lobe removed because of this. I wish I was in Israel-Palestine. What happened doesn't make me afraid. I am not confusing anything. This is only in your mind. Still feel a victim my dear? Even you?

What exactly is all this devestating information about the situation in Israel-Palestine meant to inspire us to do, other than feel helpless and distraught? information is information. you have to learn to deal with such things, so that you can process it and use it to help you make decisions (this is what information is "for"), without letting it screw you up.

So far it seems like he was luckier than Rachel. Personally I find it irksome that it's only when a white westerner gets gunned down, run over or otherwise harmed that the IDF's disgraceful treatment of peaceful protest gets paid attention to. Inevitable, I suppose. What exactly are we meant to feel, say or do in response to this? Thank God we're not in Israel-Palestine? Feel self-righteous? You decide for yourself how you want to respond. I can't do that for you.
