What progress have we made with getting our cultural night off the ground? It seems to me like a celebration of Israeli, Palestinian and Middle Eastern culture would be a very constructive event to hold, hopefully in collaboration with Israel Soc, J-Soc, Pal Soc and I-Soc. That way, people could mix one-to-one, either culturally or politically, however suited them, and humanise and learn from each other without the tensions of a panel debate.
Maybe also, if we host another panel debate, it should have better representations of all spectrums of Israeli thinking?
What do people think?

Let's get lots of falafel, the mighty cultural unifier.

Except from falafel we need to make a list of all the bands that we are going to invite. Any ideas?

We need also to find where we are going to host the event.

Hmm, well, in terms of 'culture', I wasn't just thinking of music - Fuad knows of someone who's an expert in Israeli and Palestinian poetry, and even in her absence, we could have some poetry readings, maybe? Food is also obviously a major aspect of culture In terms of bands, we had a problem with this before. The best thing might be to get in touch with the four societies I mentioned above, and ask if they can recommend any live music? Unless anyone knows of any Middle Eastern bands? What else comes under the umbrella of 'culture'? As to a venue, my instinct is always to suggest the Chetwynd Room, but there's Old Kitchens in Queens', or do we want to make it a public venue? What d'you reckon?

I've not got much time to add anything to this, but, with the umbrella term of "culture" you might wanna consider: film, other visual arts, literature and poetry, food, fashion/traditional dress, music, theatre/drama, etc, etc... maybe even scientific achievements and discoveries, etc.
