I think we agreed that posting on the forum wasn't going to be anonymous. Could we all register under our real names, or does anybody have a problem with that?
Cool. Peace & Love

Ah ha... terminology trap here - some (myself included) were thinking that "anonymous posting" meant one couldn't post without first registering as a user, as in usual forum-speak terms... Will see if I can change my username! xxx Natasha

to make language clearer, anonymous is no-name, "fake name" is "pseudonym"

did we agree that? I'll go and check the minutes before I commit to anything. I'm sure some know who I am.

Yeah I'm not entirely sure whether people thought they were agreeing to no pseudonyms or no posting without any name at all... Perhaps something to clarify quickly at the start of the next meeting? Personally I'd interpret it as pseudonyms are allowed, but you must be registered under a name of some description to post, so that your comments can all be seen as coming from the same person, etc.

But why would we need to be anonymous on here? We're not anonymous when we meet in person, or host events, and this is just an interim provision so as to be able to keep discussing and learning.

i find that anonymity makes discussions purer as it's less likely than people will go into personal attakcs, and when they do it's ineffectual

I very much agree with Ximin (xl269). By using your real name you become more responsible in what you are going to write. It also strengthens your viewpoints a lot. It is more powerful & honest this way.

agree or disagree? what you wrote was a bit ambiguous..
i'd say that attaching a name to a piece of writing is "more honest" if it's your real name, but then people will judge words partly based on who wrote it; anonymity means that they can only consider the content of what is written.

Sorry mistake, I thought you said the opposite. I disagree with what you said about purity. It is true though what you say about personal attacks. However using the real name helps also to keep track with the previous e-mails and discussions in our other meetings. As well it strengthens very much our positions as a group we show somehow that we are clear and open in what we believe and fight for. And because now most of the names are real and we have already decided this way we should keep it this way until the next gm.

I'm not anonymous, I'm using a pseudonym. We agreed on no anonymity.
